But here's where it gets controversial... Cuffey emphasizes the distinction between weather and climate. While we might experience cold snaps, the overall trend is clear: our planet is warming. "Since the late 19th century, we've seen this warming trend. The early years had natural causes, but from the 1980s onwards, it's primarily due to human activities and atmospheric changes," he explained.

And this is the part most people miss... The SWAIS2C team believes this sediment core analysis will guide coastal communities and cities in adapting to rising sea levels. It's a critical step in our fight against climate change.
