In a striking turn of events, Brean Theme Park has officially gone into liquidation, following the appointment of liquidators last week, as revealed in a public notice. This situation has led to the park entering the critical ‘Resolutions for Winding Up’ phase, which indicates that the business must halt all trading activities, except for those directly related to managing the winding-up process.
However, it’s important to note that neighboring attractions such as Unity Holidays, Brean Splash, Brean Play, and Brean Gym remain unaffected by this development. A representative confirmed to Burnham-On-Sea.com that these facilities will continue their operations without interruption. "Although Brean Theme Park leases its land from Unity Holidays, it operates as a separate entity. Therefore, any changes concerning the theme park do not impact Unity Holidays or our associated park in Brean (Unity Beach)," they explained.
The spokesperson further reassured visitors that the park will continue to function normally, with Brean Play, Brean Splash, and Brean Gym set to reopen as scheduled for the 2026 season. These locations are expected to feature numerous enhancements, thanks to ongoing investments aimed at improving the Unity Beach resort experience.
Burnham-On-Sea.com has also reached out to the distinct owner of Brean Theme Park for further comments regarding the situation.
The history of Brean Theme Park dates back to the 1970s when plans for rides were first conceived, establishing the park as a beloved destination for holidaymakers and day visitors alike. Currently, Nicholas Stafford from Hazlewoods LLP has been designated as the liquidator for Brean Theme Park. His role involves the meticulous task of distributing the company’s assets among its shareholders and creditors. According to a notice published in The Gazette, liquidators were officially appointed on January 28, 2026.
At this juncture, there has been no official announcement regarding either a permanent or temporary closure of the theme park. The notice specified: “NOTICE IS GIVEN that the following written resolutions of the above-named Company were passed on 28 January 2026 as a Special resolution and Ordinary resolution respectively: 1. That the Company be wound up voluntarily” and 2. that Nicholas Stafford (IP No: 27270) of Hazlewoods LLP, Staverton Court, Staverton, Cheltenham, GL51 0UX be appointed Liquidator of the Company.”
Typically, Brean Theme Park operates between March and October each year. While entry into the park is free, visitors must purchase credits for various rides, which can be acquired either inside the park or in advance of their visit. The park’s official website (https://breanthemepark.co.uk/) lists March 14th as their opening date for the 2026 season.
It's worth mentioning that some local tourism businesses have reported a decline in trade and visitor numbers over recent years, attributing this downturn to the nearby Pontins holiday park being utilized to house EDF Hinkley Point workers instead of accommodating holiday guests.
